Sofija Nešić
Group for Plant Molecular Biology
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology
Sofija Nešić is a Research Assistant in the Plant Molecular Biology Group IMGGE.
Her research is focused on the interactions between plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) and the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana under both optimal and stress-induced conditions. The aim of her work is to better understand the mechanisms by which PGPB enhance plant resilience and development.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2017. In 2018, she completed her Master’s studies in Molecular Biology and Plant Biotechnology, defending a thesis titled ’’The role of silicon in alleviation of iron deficiency in barley (Hordeum vulgare)’’. That same year, she enrolled in PhD studies in Physiology and Molecular Biology of Plants.
Sofija joined IMGGE in 2019 as a Junior Researcher and has been working as a Research Assistant since 2021.
