Simona Lapcevic is a Junior Researcher in the Human Molecular Genetics Group IMGGE.
Simona graduated from the Molecular Biology and Physiology module at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2020. She obtained her Master's degree in the Applied Genetics module in 2022, by completing her master's thesis titled "The Effect of Lead on the Expression of Metallothionein Genes and the Level of Their Accumulation in Males and Females of Two Drosophila Species."
From June 2021 to June 2022, she worked as an analyst in a sanitary microbiology laboratory. From July 2022 to July 2024, she was employed as a biological data analyst in clinical research.
She enrolled in doctoral studies in 2024 in the Genetics and Genomics module at the Faculty of Biology. She has been employed at IMGGE as a Junior Researcher since 2025. Her doctoral dissertation research encompasses the processes of astrocyte reactivation and senescence and the regulatory functions of certain microRNAs in these processes.
