Group for Molecular Biology
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics

Radmila Novaković, PhD, is a member of the Molecular Biology Group and she is engaged at the Center for Genome Sequencing and Bioinformatics in IMGGE. She completed her undergraduate studies and defended her master's thesis at the Faculty of Biology and earned her PhD in Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, in area Pharmacology with Toxicology. She began her research career at the Institute for Medical Research of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, where she conducted the practical part of her master's thesis. From 2010 to 2023, she worked at the Institute of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Clinical Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine. Between 2020 and 2023, she was engaged in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory within the Microbiology Department of the University Clinical Center of Serbia. Her research interests encompass pharmacological approaches to the pathophysiological processes during pregnancy, disorders of uterine smooth muscle contractility, ion channels, natural polyphenols and their therapeutic applications, the spread of antimicrobial resistance genes in hospital and natural ecosystems, as well as methods for preparing libraries for next-generation sequencing (NGS). She has participated in numerous national and international projects, authored over 25 scientific papers, and serves as a reviewer for foreign projects and international journals. Dr. Novaković is a member of the Serbian Pharmacological Society, the European Pharmacological Society (EPHAR), the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), and the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). She is particularly interested in collaborating within various scientific formats, including research projects, research groups, consortia, scientist exchanges, and joint scientific initiatives, with a special focus on the application of NGS technology in pharmacology, molecular biology, and microbiology.
