Nevena Vezmar is Junior Researcher in the Group for Molecular Biology IMGGE.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, in 2023. The following year, she earned a master’s degree in Molecular Biology by completing the experimental part of her thesis at the Center for Forensic and Applied Molecular Genetics, University of Belgrade. In the same year, she enrolled in doctoral studies in Genetics at the Faculty of Biology, while conducting the experimental part of her dissertation within the Group for Molecular Biology, under the supervision of Dr. Aleksandra Divac Rankov.
The experiments she is currently conducting involve toxicological studies using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model organism, with a special focus on factors influencing the development of chronic lung diseases, by studying the swim bladder as a functional homolog of the lungs.
