Milan Slavković is a Senior Professional Associate and Project Manager within the Eco-biotechnology and Drug Development Group at the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade. His research interests lie in leveraging microbial processes and bioactive metabolites for sustainable solutions in environmental remediation, biocatalysis, and the development of eco-friendly biopharmaceuticals. Milan also actively seeks to acquire and participate in European Commission projects to advance innovative and eco-sustainable biotechnological applications.
Currently, Milan is managing projects within the Eco-biotechnology and Drug Development Group at IMGGE, overseeing research and development activities. These projects focus on harnessing microbial processes and bioactive metabolites to develop sustainable solutions. His work involves project planning, coordination, and reporting, as well as seeking opportunities to secure funding from European Commission projects.
Milan earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the University of Belgrade in 2008, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston in 2012. Before joining IMGGE in 2022, he worked as a Senior Principal Scientist at ECOLAB in Houston and Research Assistant in Electrochemical Nanofabrication and Nanomaterials Synthesis Group, Cullen College, University of Houston. From 2024-2025, Milan was a Visitor Research Scholar at Sandia National Laboratories in the USA, leading the collaborative development of a comprehensive research data management guidance manual.
