Nikola Jocić

Junior researcher

Group for Rare Disease Research and Therapeutics Development
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics

Nikola Jocić is a junior researcher in the Group for Rare Disease Research and Therapeutics Development IMGGE. The field of his scientific work is the analysis of the molecular basis of monogenic rare diseases, primarily glycogen storage disease type Ib (GSD Ib). In his previous work, he was involved in examining the molecular mechanisms of pathophysiology, such as autophagy, on a cellular model system for GSD Ib. His area of interest includes bioinformatic analysis of data obtained by genome and transcriptome sequencing and creating cellular model systems using the CRISPR-Cas9 method.

Nikola earned his Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2021. In 2023, he earned his Master's degree in Human Molecular Biology and started his PhD studies in the Molecular Biology, sub-module Molecular Biomedicine at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. He earned the title of junior researcher in 2023.
