  • MICROBIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY (conversion of waste streams into biomolecules and biomaterials, bacterial fermentations, strain improvement, Streptomyces spp., Pseudomonas spp.);
  • BIOCATALYSIS (identification of novel biocatalysts, protein expression and directed evolution, tautomerases, laccases, aminotransferases, biotransformations, biocatalytic process development and optimization);
  • NOVEL MATERIALS (biopolymers, polyhydroxyalkanoates, bacterial nanocellulose, functionalization of biopolymers),
