The analysis of polymorphisms A307T and N680S in the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene

A number of studies indicate that SNPs A307T and N680S in the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene are associated with the ovarian response to FSH in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation and therefore with the assisted reproduction outcomes. Women with S680S genotype might have a lower sensitivity to exogenous FSH and require more FSH during assisted reproduction program compared to women with N680N genotype. Also, women with T307T genotype could have a lower sensitivity to exogenous FSH during assisted reproduction program while women with A307T and A307A genotypes have an increased risk of developing the ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome (OHSS). FSHR genotype testing may help in the tailoring of personalized protocols for controlled ovarian stimulation, increasing the efficiency of IVF treatments and reduce the risk of OHSS development.

The FSHR polymorphisms are analyzed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method.

For genetic testing, it is necessary to deliver 2.5-5 ml of peripheral blood using 3.8% sodium citrate as anticoagulant in ratio blood: anticoagulant 9:1. It is possible to deliver a blood sample that has already been frozen. There is possibility to deliver the sample via post express service.

The samples are accepted every working day from 10 to 16h. Result will be issued 15-30 days upon the sample reception.

The results and the bill might be sent to the patient's home address, or can be collected personally at the Institute from 10 to 16h every working day.
