Newly described type of thrombophilia, antithrombin resistance, is associated with marked thrombosis and it is potentially life-threatening disorder. However, its presence cannot be detected using currently available clinical tests. In this project, based on our research data on mechanism of antithrombin resistance and our preliminary results, we will test different experimental setups in order to verify our idea that serum may be the appropriate sample for antithrombin resistance detection test. Successfully proven concept will allow development of rapid, reliable and clinically-robust antithrombin resistance test that will have worldwide application.
