OxInDisPro - Overexpression of intrinsically disordered protein ATDSS1 in different plant systems – an analysis of its role in response to the oxidative stress

Serbian Science and Diaspora Collaboration Program: Knowledge Exchange Vouchers, Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, 2020-2021
Principal Investigator: Dr Gordana Timotijevic, IMGGE
Participant from IMGGE: Ivana Nikolic

Intrinsically disordered protein DSS1 interacts with different proteins and takes role in diverse biological functions. DSS1 involvement in maintenance of genome integrity is the only function well studied in plants. Using CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis we obtained Arabidopsis line containing mutation in DSS1 gene, sensitive to oxidative stress. Gateway cloning system as a cutting edge technology will be used to obtain lines with overexpressed DSS1 protein in order to study its hypothesized role in removal of oxidatively damaged proteins. This skill will be relevant to future projects.
