Detection of SRY gene on periferal blood samples
SRY is a sex-determining gene on the Y chromosome. The method employed for analysis is PCR. It is necessary to conduct this analysis with karyotype testing in patients with sex reversal (XY female or XX male) and in patients with ambiguous genital characteristics.
For analysis it is necessary to deliver 4-5 ml of peripheral blood with 3.8% sodium citrate as anticoagulant in ratio 9:1.
If the patient received a blood transfusion during the last month, it is not possible to perform this analysis.
The samples are accepted only with prior scheduling and only samples with filled request form from the medical doctor are accepted.
