Laboratory for Molecular Biology is the first one in our country that in 1988. introduced molecular diagnostics of cystic fibrosis and CFTR gene mutation detection (Cystic fibrosis mutation database). In collaboration with medical centers, we perform postnatal and prenatal molecular genetic testing of cystic fibrosis in at risk families, as well as carrier testing.

Since 1996, our laboratory has been participating in the European Quality Control Program. We perform testing for the most common CFTR mutations: F508del, G551D, G542X, R553X, N1303K, 621+1G/T and 1717-1G/A. We also routinely perform screening of the whole CFTR gene (27 exons with flanking intronic sequences).
